Performing a spell or a ritual is really no different then, in what other religions, would be a prayer. What you are doing when you perform a spell or ritual, is you are focusing your intentions on what you desire and are using tools to aid you in that focus. Be mindful of the Rule of Three. What you put out to the universe will come back to you three times whether it be good or bad. Also, just because you want something, doesn't mean that you should get it. When I work a spell I try to keep my objective generalized. For example, instead of trying to get a specific job at a specific company, I would focus on a satisfying, good paying job, that is close to home. This way I am keeping a positive focus and letting fate guide where the best fit might be. I apply this same principle to all spell work that I do. Although there is room for fun and humor, magic is something to be respected. You should never try to alter someones free will or perform a spell for their benefit without first obtaining permission to do so.
There are many different tools that you can implement to enhance your spell and help you focus on your intent. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish there many diffferent factors that can aid in your chance for success. A few of these are: Moon Phases, Directions (North, East, South or West), Elements (Earth, Air, Fire or Water), Colors, Astrological times and even the Days of the Week. I am not going to go into full detail on each of these at this time but will be sure to expand on them in future posts.
You do not need to be an expert to perform most simple spells and as you become stronger at visualization you may not need any other tools at all. Visualization is the most important piece to any ritual. It is picturing, in your mind the image of your desired intent. The better you can picture it, the stronger your spell will be.
Magic is a great way to enhance our everyday lives. Have fun with it but remember, harm none.
